Had to get up bear peak w/ mo. Never had hiked from this particular neighborhood access point. Looks like it will be a good alternative to the other Bear Peak routes, which are affected by the xcel energy closure in the Bear Canyon vicinity. It's always possible to hike from s. mesa TH, but that spot feels halfway to Golden and the routes are longer. Still trying to figure out how to quantify downhill hiking. It isn't metabolically taxing, but I want to account for it somehow. It probably affects muscle soreness more than glycogen depletion.
